Valentine's Reds (The Lippy Edition)

Happy Valentines Day everyone and welcome to a valentines day post, last year I did my top five red nail polishes (HERE), so this year it is the turn of the lip products.

Russian Roulette - Sleek
Russian Roulette is quite a dark matte red, and the best one if you are wanting to rock a dark bold lip on Valentines Day. This lasts quite long on the lips due to it being a matte lipstick, but I will forewarn you make sure your lips aren't having a dry day as this can show up dry patches.

Hot Pepper - Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet
This is a really bright red and the Rouge Edition Velvets had to be included. The formula is so long lasting and great during that romantic meal.

Candy Apple - Revlon Lip Butter
Candy Apple is quite a sheer lipstick, so this is for those of you that want to try a red lipstick but don't want to be too daring

Prohibition - Collection Deluxe Lipstick
This again is another bright red but with a darker tinge to it then Hot Pepper above. This is a gorgeous shade on the lips and looks just fantastic. The formula is matte and is also quite long lasting on the lips.

The Redder, The Better - Rimmel Colour Rush Lip Crayon
This is another sheer red with an orange tones, it applies to the lips fantastically and is also great if you are not wanting to be too daring on Valentines Day.

I hope you liked the post, is there any red lip products that you love that weren't featured?

Thanks for tuning in

Products with a * means they were a free gift.

Welcome to a haul post, on Monday I went to Meadowhall for a shopping trip (come on who doesn't love shopping).

Sleek i-Divine Palette - Garden of Eden

Sleek really know their stuff when it comes to makeup palettes, they really seem to push boundaries when it comes to the colours that they add to the palettes.

This palette is one such concotion that allows the user to jump out of their comfort zone when it comes to colour. The Garden of Eden palette is based on the story of the Garden of Eden and features colours around that theme, so expect to see a lot of brown's and green's.

Top Row
The top row contains some gorgeous colours mostly metallic shimmers with the one matte shade on the edge. Forbidden is a great shade as it has flecks of gold in the shadow, and I love Eve's Kiss as this is such a lovely metallic pink shade. These shades are brilliant for during the day, whereas the bottom row I think is the colors where you can start to be creative.

Bottom Row
These shades are I think the ones where you can be more creative when it comes to the eyes. I will admit I have used this row once or twice when creating a smoky eye but I generally steer clear on a day to day basis.
The shadows are all blendable and there are some gorgeous colours, out of this row I love fig, it is such an amazing colour and looks so pretty on the eyes.

This is a gorgeous eyeshadow palette, and Sleek know how to bring it with their palettes, this can be found at your local Boots or Superdrug.

Thanks for tuning in

Sleek i-Divine Au Naturel Palette

Everyone loves a palette and Sleek know how to bring them, this is their Au Naturel palette that consists of 12 eyeshadows of nudes to browns, shimmers to mattes.

As you can see the top row consists of the lighter shades mainly mattes and one shimmer on the end. Some of the eyeshadows are pigmented on just 1 finger swipe and others when applied may need to be patted on just to get some payoff on the eyes.

The bottom row consists of the darker shades of the palette, and this row contains 4 mattes and 2 shimmer colours. As you can see in the swatch the darker shades are quite pigmented so only a tiny bit is needed.

This palette is great for a natural smokey eye look (I have dipped my toe into the waters with this palette and it did look great). The eyeshadows are easily applied to the eyes and really easy to blend with each other.

I have to admit I do love this palette as it is great for during the day at work as well as using on a night to create some more dramatic looks.

Thanks for tuning in

Sleek Lip Gloss Pout Polish - Perfect Plum

Pout Polish is a tinted lip conditioner that nourishes and feels like a lip balm, whilst providing the look and colour of a subtle gloss as well as an SPF of 15 (good for on the beach then). It also contains natural oils so that your lips are protected and moisturised.

This for me stood out on the stand, I'm not a fan of dark colours but this looked like it would stand out on the lips. The range has 13 shades (can be found on Sleek's website here). The polish retails for £4.49 on Sleek's website as well as Superdrug and Boots.

To apply this you use your fingers in the pan and then just apply to the lips, but this can be a bit messy as the colour then goes onto your finger and you need a tissue to wipe it off (if you are using this and your out and about you really are going to need one). The product itself is really good it feels buttery on the lips and just feels moisturising, and the colour wasn't as dark as I thought it might be, the colour is noticeable on the lips but it is also sheer as well.

I'm not a fan of the way the product is packaged, get this in a stick form and this will be cooking on gas (at least you wouldn't need to wash your hands after every use) as the formula is lovely on the lips.

Have you tried the Pout Polish? What did you think?

Thanks for tuning in

What's On My Face - Within Temptation

For Christmas I bought my partner some tickets to see one of his favourite bands Within Temptation, I've not heard much of them but he has been blasting their CD's in the car so I am getting an education into symphonic metal (I know, I never even knew that this was a genre either)
So as a change to my normal review posts I decided to do a what's on my face, and my nails, so here goes:

Maybelline Baby Skin Primer - This was a first try of this product so a baptism of fire for it, it is silicone based but once it was massaged onto the skin it didn't feel greasy.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Radiance Reveal Foundation - Light Vanilla - I love this foundation, I chose this as it has no SPF in so when photo's might be taken my face won't light up like Blackpool illuminations.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer - Ivory - This has become one of my favourite concealers it blends under the eye really well and stays for quite a while.

SEVENTEEN Hide Away Concealer Stick - Extra Fair - This was just a concealer to hid blemishes, it did a good job but I think it might be time to throw it away.

Avon ColorTrend Pressed Powder - Translucent - A really good powder, that doesn't oxidise on the face (well it doesn't on me) really good and it does have an SPF in which I think is novel for a powder, I don't think I've come across a pressed powder that has an SPF in.

Avon Lid Primer - This is one of my favourite eyeshadow primers it keeps my eyeshadow on for ages and really brightens it up.

Natural Collection LashCare Mascara - Clear - This is just used to protect my lashes from the drying effects of the mascara especially as I am going to be putting on a waterproof mascara.

Sleek I-Divine Palette - Garden of Eden - I've not used this fully but I decided to get it out and make a smoky eye look. I used Gates of Eden as the base and used Flora in the crease and blended it all in. It worked really well and I was quite chuffed with the outcome.

Maybelline The Rocket Volum' Express Waterproof Mascara - Black - I thought a waterproof mascara would be good as there might be a bit of sweating in the scrum.

Rimmel ScandalEyes Eyeliner - Black - I love this eyeliner it is so easy to apply the waterline, and the upper lashes.

Soap & Glory™ Super-Colour Fabulipstick™ Collagen Boosting Lipstick - The Missing Pink - I'd gone quite dramatic with my eyes so I didn't want to overdo it on my lips so I applied Soap & Glory's The Missing Pink lipstick just to give a hint of colour.

Here is the finished look, not too bad dramatic with the eyes and light on the lips.

Black on Black - Sinful Colors - I used this as a base coat on the nail, easy to apply not too gloopy and really pigmented.

Siren - Collection - I used this just on the tips to give a bit of a punk look with pink on black, this finished product wasn't the greatest but it wasn't too bad.

Delain were the support act and they weren't too bad

Within Temptation was really good and my partner really enjoyed himself (he's got no voice today).

Thanks for tuning in
