Artstix Nail Art Pen

Models Own have a line of nail art pens consisting of 9 colours, which are 5 pastel colours, 2 metallics and White, Black and Pink. I have the Black one.

Artstix Nail Art Pen - Black

I was using the black one to create stripes on my nails. The brush took a while to get used to as it is quite long but once I did it didn't seem to go too badly. The brush is quite long and a lot of the product does stay on the brush, I spent a lot of my time getting the excess off of the brush. The lines it created were quite bold and I only needed to use it once to get an opaque line.

You can also use the dotting section of the pen, but for the moment trying to create lines was a baby step for me.

Overall Thoughts.

I thought this product was good and I will use it again but only quite rarely when I want to have a try at nail art again.

Cloud 9 - Sinful Colors

This is a lovely orange colour which has a shimmer all the way through it, a brilliant colour for Halloween and I would also use this for summer.

The formula is quite drippy but it does dry quickly, on the first coat the polish was quite sheer, but as soon as the 2nd coat was applied the polish became fully opaque.

The price of this polish is quite reasonable at £1.99 at Boots, and they have a fantastic range of colours to choose from.

With this polish you have the classic brush, the polish goes on the nail quite easily.

Overall Thoughts.

I was quite surprised with how lovely this polish actually is and look forward to using it again.

Can't Find My Czechbook - O.P.I

I bought Can't Find My Czechbook as it was a light blue colour, this colour is lovely a really nice blue shade. I thought this colour would be good for the start of Autumn when the temperatures are starting to drop.  This polish is part of O.P.I's Euro Centrale collection.

The first coat looked quite streaky when applied to the nail, but it did apply well (especially when painting my right hand, minimal mistakes) The polish dries quickly and looks lovely on the nails. The second coat covered the nail nicely and turned the colour opaque on the nail.

I bought this from Nail Polish Direct for a great price of £7.99 (it was either that or £11.50 at John Lewis). I can not fault the service with the company, my order was dispatched the same day and delviered a couple of days later.

Overall a great nail polish, and one I will be using again.

Garnier Moisture Match (Shine be Gone)

Moisturising is a massive thing and my face needs it big time but my skin is prone to breakouts and I have very dry skin, so to find a moisturiser for me that won't leave me with spots all over my face is a problem.

While in the local supermarket I found Garnier Moisture Match 24H Hydration mattifying fresh cream, this also comes in different products for different skin types. I chose the 'Shine Be Gone' option as it is for combination to oily skin.

I managed to pick this up on offer for £4.99 and trialed this for a week to see how my skin handled the product.

The tube is 50mls and you only need a small amount to put on your face, as I said I was quite dubious about this as I feared a breakout on my skin, but but using a small amount it left my skin feeling refreshed. It also kept away the dry skin that does accumulate on my face and kept it moisturised

The product was really good and I will certainly add this to my everyday skincare regime.

L'Oreal Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution

I'd heard about this product from essiebutton when she did a blog post on alternatives to bioderma (found here). Now don't get me wrong I do want to try Bioderma as every beauty blogger is raving about this, but I thought I would start at the cheaper end of the scale first to see if micellar water did anything for my skin before I went higher in price range.

I have been using this product religiously for a week and my skin feels a whole lot better then it was at the start of the trial. My skin feels a lot lighter (if you know what I mean) and doesn't feel tight. It also pulls off my makeup and any other nasties that have been lurking on my face.

Overall I thought this was a great toner and it made my skin feel really refreshed, and one I will carry on using in my skincare regime.

Koala Bear on the nails

This is a polish I thought would be good for Autumn and with the wet weather we have been having lately this grey colour seems appropriate.

The Polish is quite reasonably priced at £1.00 from Superdrug, and you get quite an amount in the bottle.

Bottle and Brush

The brush is the classic nail polish brush and the polish goes on quite sheer when you first put it onto the nails. When I put the second coat on it didn't make the colour opaque it still looked quite sheer. 3 coats seems the best idea when putting this polish on or having a white polish underneath it.

The polish wasn't too drippy and went onto the nail quite easily with not very many mistakes (especially on the dreaded right hand).

Overall it is a nice polish, the only bug bear is the 3 coats but other then that a nice autumn colour.

£1 Nail Polish Removers

While perusing the local Poundland I found some nail polish removers and thought I would give them a try.

I'm removing Sally Hansen's Haute Chocolate from my nails so this will be a baptism of fire for them.

The Products

Inside the tub

When you open the tub the tub is covered with foil which you have to remove to get into the tub.

As you can see the pads weren't very thick so I wasn't expecting all that much from these.

4 Pads for 1 Hand

I ended up using 4 of the wipes for just one hand, the wipes are quite thin and they seem to dry out quite quickly.

I wasn't that impressed with them but the nail varnish was on quite thickly, so there may be a round 2 coming up.

Inside the tub

Inside the tub you have a sponge that has been soaked in nail polish remover, it also has a split in the sponge so you can put your finger in to remove the polish from your nail (see image below)

This worked quite well, I was surprised with how good this actually was (I was even surprised about the split in the sponge).

The remover does have acetone in so this won't be any help to anyone who have false nails on, but overall a brilliant remover and I will purchase this again especially when I am going away.

Once I repainted my nails it was time for the corrector pen to be tested.

What the pen looks like

The corrector pen was really good, it worked well remove the polish from around the nails, but the only downfall is that it only comes with one nib, so the pen will only be good for 2 to 3 uses before it gets clogged with nail polish on the nib.

I would re-buy this but only if I'm going away and need a corrector pen.

Conclusions

Overall these were good products, I don't think I will buy the remover pads again but the pot and the corrector pen I will.

So if it's skint week and you want to do your nails on a budget these are a good idea.

Rub Rub Rub - Lush

I was in Lush a while ago and the sales girl asked me if I had tried their body scrub 'Rub, Rub, Rub', my reply was of course no I have never tried this before. So after a 5 minute demonstration of the scrub and the results on my hands, I was sold and bought a tub right there and then.

As you can see like all Lush packaging it is simple but quite eye catching because of its simplicity.

The actual product doesn't look that appealing it's all seasalt and basically a tub of blue goo, but it does smell lovely (reminds me of the beach and the sea)

On the Hand

All you need to do is put some on your skin and rub it in. I will forewarn you that if you want a really deep scrub put the product on before you go in the shower, if you want a softer scrub put it on while you are in the shower.

Once it's all rubbed in

As you can see once it's rubbed into the skin the product changes colour, once you wash the product off (I did my hand as a dry scrub) the product turns really smooth under the water and it leaves your skin feeling all smooth and lovely.

You can also use it in your hair to add volume (I've not tried this yet as my hair has got enough volume and any more I might get arrested for noise pollution)

It retails at Lush for £8.25 for 330g, this tub has lasted me awhile and is only a quarter full (will probably feature in my October empties)

Love Nails - Sinful Colors

I recently painted my nails with Sinful Colors - Love Nails shade.

It's a very nice shade completely different colour when it is on your nails then in the bottle, it has a lovely shimmer to it. The consistency is not too drippy and doesn't blob when you put it onto your nail.

2 coats are just enough to make the polish opaque.
